Tips to find wedding planner for intimate Events

He was easily the toughest client I’ve ever had.

Uncle Ali hired me as the wedding planner for his youngest daughter’s wedding after one of my previous clients shared my contact with him. From the very beginning, he came prepared—with a detailed plan for how he wanted the house decorated for an entire week of events, leading up to the wedding day.

It was 2021, during COVID, so the wedding was intentionally intimate. The venue was a small but beautiful garden lawn, and his vision was to transform it into a dreamy “fairy garden” filled with lilies. The bride, Mishi, was very quiet and easy-going—she only gave me a few dos and don’ts and trusted me with the rest.

I’ve always loved challenges, and this one was no exception. The space was tight, and one of our biggest hurdles was creating a ceiling setup without using a full truss system—because the pillars would have taken up too much space. Instead, we got creative: we used the trees as structural support and installed a partial truss over only half the area. In the end, the space transformed beautifully soft lighting, roses, and lilies hanging delicately from the trees created exactly the magical garden we had envisioned.

Despite all this, he remained my toughest client. He refused to pay the usual upfront 50%, even though I came recommended. Still, I accepted the challenge—not just to complete the project, but to earn his trust and hopefully gain a repeat client.

A few hours before the main event, while I was reviewing the final details, he called me into the drawing room. I was honestly nervous—I thought something had gone wrong or that he wasn’t satisfied.

But when I walked in, he looked at me thoughtfully… and then smiled.

He said, “You’re doing an amazing job at such a young age. Beyond the work itself, I’ve been watching your dedication—the way you and your team have been working. It shows your passion. You proved me wrong. I was worried that, just to save some money, I was hiring a new wedding planner… a young girl with less experience in UAE wedding planning —for my daughter’s wedding, where my family and friends would be present. It was a matter of my respect. But you made me proud of my choice of hiring a professional planner like you”

That moment made everything worth it.
